TRIAL AND ADVOCACY TRAINING

In March 2023 Hearth Bangladesh in association with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (DOJ:OPDAT) and Department of Law, Canadian University, Bangladesh organized a simulated training to teach trial and advocacy skills to the young law students.  The lecture training was followed by mock trials where the participants performed as prosecutors and defense lawyers.  40 law students from 12 institutions took part in the training; the participants were selected based on their Eight Jessup Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds performance.  The instructors panel was consisted of expert trial lawyers of home and abroad, for example, renown Bangladeshi trial lawyer Aminul Goni Titu conducted a session on criminal trial advocacy techniques while U.S. federal prosecutor Chris Howard discussed the U.S. best practices.   This three-day training was highly appreciated by the participants.
